Hi again

Finding that quite a few of the Bartons born around 1730 to 1760 were born at home the address being Pitt House, North Meols.  Could anyone tell me anything about this house or where I could find information on it?
Thanks Sheila

Never come across it - only suggestion I have is to look at old-maps.com and see if you can spot it?   Sorry it's not more helpful

I bet if Bez doesn't know then Aunty Pat will...

I'll try to remember to ask them this evening.

I'm sure Pitt's House Farm is still on the maps.  I'm thinking that it's on Churchtown Moss somewhere, or else it was the bottom of Moss Lane.  Will try to remember to look for an old map.

Wyke Lane rather than Moss Lane, but Churchtown Moss alright.  I think I have Barton's connected with it as well.

From the Preston Guardian Saturday Jan 14 1860:

On Tuesday last, at Christchurch, Southport, John, eldest son of Robert Rimmer, Esq, of Pitt's House Farm, North Meols, to Alice, second daughter of Richard Wright, Esq, of Poolfoot Farm, North Meols

Pitt's House Farm is  reached from Pitt's House Lane which is off Moss Lane, Churchtown. This can be seen on the previous map just after the 'New Pool' After the date of the map a new waterway (The Three Pools)was dug which cut off Pitt's House Farm from Wyke Lane. See on Google Maps - check link

Thanks for the update - the other map is from 1888 and just happened to be on my hard drive, so easy for uploading.
