I have an ancestor called Ellen Miller (ca 1784-1861), who married (2) to Peter Rimmer (1797-1864) in 1828.
She was previously married to Henry Tasker.

Miller doesn't seem to be a local name, so I was thinking of a birth in Liverpool, but the census returns says she was born in North Meols.
I would like to find her christening and parents.

I've had a look at North Meols on the Online Parish Clerk website and there seem to have been two families of Millers having children in the right time frame Richard and Jane and John and Jane of South Haws. Perhaps they were two brothers but I didn't find an Ellen.

There were a lot of Ellen's  baptised between 1783 and 1785. Have you looked to see of there was a marriage of Ellen (anything) to Mr Miller before Mr Tasker came on the scene?

PS is that your data on Rootsweb? I had a look there as well.

Hi Andre
Ellen is my GGGG grandmother (from first marriage to Henry Tasker) Joyce O does not have any ancestry for her either, which I reckon means her family were probably out of area, maybe Ormskirk or somesuch.

Quite a few of my GGGGs don't seem to belong to known NM families, even those with common NM names

Hi peeps

As she married a Rimmer maybe someone with the husband on their line may have some more info.  Pop a query on the Rimmer post...

Yes, the data on Anglo-Frisian are mine. At one time I had her down as born in Liverpool because the couple I thought that were her parents moved very near to North Meols and the year of birth fits very well.
They are William Miller and Mary Spurstow who married in 1781 in Liverpool St. Nicholas (IGI).
But none of the census returns gives her birth place as Liverpool. I traced that Miller family back to Chester.

Whenever my ancestors moved from another to place to North Meols, I have a hard time to prove where they were really from. I believe I did consider an earlier marriage to a Mr. Miller. She was 22 years old when she married Henry Tasker.
