My grandmother, Alice Lloyd (1883-1966), was the daughter of George (b. c1857/8) and Margaret. She had 4 other siblings, John, Parmnel, Ida and James. I think Margaret was a Taylor from Tarleton, but I'm completely stuck on George. Can't connect him to any of the many Southport Lloyds.
Can anyone help?

There's a lot of the Lloyd families on the forum lately.  I must say it's a change from Rimmers and Wrights...

I bet Jody can tell you

I have 2 George Lloyds that I have found so far in mine, not the same dates though, one is b.1889 and the other one b.1899.

Be interested to see were yours are - not studied the list from Jody yet, but sure she can tell you far quicker.

Hi

I have a possible candidate - George Lloyd (born abt 1858) who was the son of Wickliffe Lloyd and Mary. Wickliffe was the son of George Lloyd and Ann, nee Leadbetter.

Regards

Jo

Another possiblity is George (b. about 1856) who married Ann Blanchard.

George, son of Robert Lloyd and Ellen Wood.

Thanks for those suggestions. I suppose I ought to get the marriage certificate which will, hopefully, give me the father's name.

As I have said before I nearly became a Lloyd and so I feel an empathy...

Not sure about George but going back to Margaret, she does seem to be from the Tarleton branch of Taylors and the daughter of Henry Taylor and Parnell Southworth.

Every Tarleton family seemed to have a Parnell dating back at least to the mid 17thC and Parnel Dobson. The churchyard is littered with them.

Obviously it wasn't particularly well known elsewhere as the registrar spelt it Pernall on Miss Southworth's wedding certificate.

You will occasionally come across "Parnell" in the North Meols Registers and census as well.

That's interesting...

I read something over the weekend which I found fascinating.  You all probably know this anyway but did you know that Rufus usually referred to a red-haired person?

I believe that was true of King William Rufus who was slain in the New Forest.
