I am looking for any information about my grandfather, Louis Lever, that lived at 24 Albert Rd. in the '30s and '40s. Louis Lever was a fine art dealer. I believe he also had a store on Lord St. He had two sons, Michael and Richard, and a housekeeper, called Adelaide Gilbert. Adelaide Gilbert also had a daughter.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou!

If you live locally, i.e. Southport area, then a visit to the Reference Section of Southport Library might prove fruitful.

Hello, just to say if you are local you could pop along to our next meeting on Thursday 20th July which is a Members' Interest evening on 'Back to Basics' and someone would be able to help you with your search for the Lever family you are tracking. PM me for further details or check the website.

Are you a member and/or someone just visiting the website?

Happy hunting,

Dotty

Thank you for your responses. I did just become a member a few days ago. I would love to pop in to Southport but I live in Vancouver, Canada so a bit too far of a pop at the moment! (hopefully one day) Do you know of any kind volunteer that may have time to check on the Lever family on a visit to the reference library? I am presently waiting on a mailed copy of my grandfather's will, which should give me more information.
Thanks again!

Isn't technology marvellous...there you are half a world away and here we are dropping notes to each other!

Is this family the only link you have to the area? When you get a family tree started would you consider leaving a copy with the society for our "Family Tree" file. We're just in the process of updating/upgrading the donated trees. No pressure.

Hope Jane can give you some useful help.

Maybe I should add Dotty - only members can lodge family trees with the society. I really hope curious gets back to me. I like to help when I can

Hi!
I did become a member a few days ago... but for some reason I cannot log in. Embarassed I did email the webmaster but I have not heard back as of yet. So it seems I cannot access your email address Jane. As soon as I can I will send you any more info I have. Thanks. My grandmother's family is from Burton-Upon-Trent, where my father was born. Would that be considered "in the area"?
I am a she, and I too think it is so wonderful that we can chat in this way... completely free!
