I'm interested in any reference to the name "Lawn" in Southport, as my grandfather, Thomas Lawn was the only male with that name in Southport.
His wife was Harriet (known as Hettie), and their daughter was Elsie.

Philip if you can be a bit more specific I will see what I can find out.

Any idea of birth year or place?

I had a quick look at the 1901 census and there are plenty with that surname all over the country although it does seem to be prolific in Yorkshire.

Thank you Jane.
I was wondering if I could find out anything more about them when they lived in Southport, which was from about 1914 to 1962.
I've done the 1901 Census, and I know the dates of Births, Marriages & Deaths.
They came from Dalton-in-Furness and before that, Cornwall.

For those dates you could consult local directories. They usually have a name index but only list head of house. It does mean you can follow them around Southport if they moved.

Once you have an address you can then look at electoral registers. Other members of the household aged 21 & over will be listed. Useful for finding children's names

Both useful for finding when people vanished so easier to look for a death or marriage of children

Both are kept in the reference library of Southport library on Lord Street
