Any one out there who has had any thing to do with Linaker Primary School? Sefton Street, Southport.
The school will be celebrating 100 years of educating young souls in 2010
There are going to be many events to celebrate this milestone, including a day when records and photographs will be on display.
If anyone has a memory of the school, please share it with us.
I was lucky enough to teach there for 32 years. under the names Green / Cox / Vickers.
Guess I might be an historical artefact!!! No comments please.
Check out their school website  www.linakerschool.co.uk/

My wife's Aunt, Edith Long, was Headmistress at Linaker Street after many years at Churchtown. She was there in the 1940/50's

Jill and her brother also attended Linaker Street as pupils. Jill went in 1947 and her brother in 1955.

We have some photos somewhere and I will look them out.

this might be one for the unexplainable

living in Las Vegas Nevada in the mid-late 1980's I was shopping at a local material store when I heard the unmistakable accent of someone British, on arriving at the check out there was a young man in his 20's whom I did not know but when I was being rung up for my purchases spoke to me...it was a definite british accent and one I knew very well....what part of Southport are you from I asked.....how'd you know I was from Southport?.....marshside girl I said..... Oh I went to Linaker st school he said..... oh no our arch rivals in footy, churchtown ... we had a bit of a chuckle about travelling half way around the globe to meet....I never saw him again.
