A Margaret E Seddon married Barnaby Newton Jan-Mar 1911.
On 1911 census she is listed as Maggie age 26.

Query is, does anyone have this couple on their tree?

There are two Margaret's born around that date
1. born 1885 daughter of John and Martha
2. born 1884 daughter of Robert & Eliza

If Barnaby married Margaret daughter of John and Martha then he married his cousin.
I know there is a tree on Ancestry which states that this is the couple but no concrete proof.

Hoping not to have to send for the marriage cert

Have you checked the Park database to see if Joyce has them listed?

There is a separate thread with a link to the database...worth a look!

Yvonne you'll have to get the marriage certificate to check the father's name. That is the only way to prove which Margaret she is

only Henry Newton his father on Park.

Yes, it may well be that a marriage cert is sent for, but will leave it a bit longer to  see if anyone has them.

I've checked the St Cuthbert's records and they didn't marry there or I could have told you the fathers' names.

Do you know which church?  The Online Parish Clerk has updated its transcripts fairly recently I think.

Lancashire BMD have them as marrying at Southport All Saints, so it would be a case of sending for the marriage certificate or checking the Parish Record?  Am off to Preston (LRO) in the next couple of days so will check if they hold those records.

Hello Seacop

I've forgotten what you told me about getting certs from Preston personally...where am I supposed to check that they are?  I'm not making myself terribly clear but am living up to my name!  Help...

If you go onto LancashireBMD, find the event you are looking for, on the right hand side there will be a number (letters and figures) underlined;  click on that and it should come up with a one-liner, again on the right hand side will be an underlined reference number;  click on that and it will show you a full page form which is the application form for the appropriate certificate.   In the bottom right corner it will give the address where the certificate may be obtained;  if it gives Lancashire Certificate Service, Chain Caul Way, Preston, then you can call in there to order/collect while you wait.  If you complete the form it saves time when you get there as they will accept that as your application (saves a couple more minutes)

You can check online which church records are held at the LRO.
