I loved playing Hop Scotch! Don't know the significance of it, if there really was one; I suppose that would now be called graffiti Confused

I remember a game called stuck in the mud. A sort of tig. When you were got you had to stand still until one of your friends crawled through your legs to unstick you. No idea where that came from though!

When we lived in NZ, kids would play lolly scramble.
Lollies (known here as sweets) would be thrown in the air, then the kids would dive in to find them. I believe it was the basic training for Rugby!

I've still got a set of ceramic jacks and two wooden tops & whips; one's a 'bottle top' style and the other is a little chubby one (don't know the name for that one); maybe one of the members' interest nights could be childhood memories/games - I'll brng my jacks and tops & whips and we could play in the car park Razz

Childhood memories or something like that would be good for a member's interest night.

Dotty take note

Am taking copious amounts of notes....

We could have such a night and maybe we could then have a display at one of our open days or at displays we attend. It worked well when it was our wartime remembrances.

Something else to discuss at a meeting...

Anyone played Ledgy where you had a rubber ball and threw it to the ledge on the tops of walls?
It had to return to you without bouncing on pavement.
Also two balls against the wall. We had lots of songs for that.
Then there was ball in stocking and bash it against the wall, don't know what we called that.
Good idea for an interest night.
Maybe we could all dress up as schoolchildren and reminisce?
Only kidding!!!

I remember getting pictures of film stars in packets of sweet cigarettes and we used to play swapsies with them; we also had a game where somebody would shout out the name of a film star and if you had the picture you took a step forward and the one who reached the opposite wall was the winner - a bit dodgy when we were stepping across the road!

Yes, Jane, they did have cars; in fact my stepfather had a car which was used as a taxi! Mind you, the coalman and milkman came with a horse and car (followed closely by buckets and shovels) Laughing
