Hi all,

This is my first post so I hope it's in the right section.

I'm coming to the open day from down south and was wondering if anyone can recommend a good, reasonably cheap, hotel or B & B in the area for Saturday night.

I am related to the Leadbetter/Wilson and Ronson families via my mother and still have many relations in the Blackpool and Fleetwood areas. I hope to visit Banks and have a look round the local churchyards on Sunday so if anyone can give any tips or advice it would be most welcome and appreciated

Many thanks in advnce for yor help

Steve

Difficult one for a local. You might find Southport a bit busy too because there's an airshow on.

This site might help - http://www.laterooms.com/en/p1301...?gclid=CJWR-POqjZ0CFZQA4wodBG8J3A

But they are showing full on a lot of them If you had asked sooner I would have said to phone the tourist information office

Anyway hope you find somewhere and please say hello at Open Day.

Just found this site using Google - http://www.bookdirectrooms.com/ap...amp;Adults=2&Rating=Undefined

Try googling and try and find somewhere in Bath Street/Irving Street/Seabank Road;  all town centre but the No.49 bus from Lord Street will drop you off in Churchtown village.
I am free to meet up with you on Sunday and can show you some of the local graves - what a lovely hobby we have.
Tell me where and when to meet up?
Take care

Thanks for the replies - most helpful.
For Sunday it would probably be easiest to meet at St Cuthberts as I will know where that is
If you are going to the Open Day, I'll be there - the one with the London accent !

You'll probably be back home before you read this reply but I hope we do meet up at open day.

Jane Wilson's brother James is my great great grandfather. One of his daughters was Mattie Leadbetter Wilson (named after her uncle Matthew Leadbetter) and she married John Ronson. Mattie died on 1st Jan 1965 and is buried in Orpington Cemetary in Kent with her second husband Harry Berry (d 14th Nov 1961). Her first husband, John, was washed overboard from the Fleetwood trawler George Adgell in March 1930 off the north Irish coast. His body was never recovered. My mother was the youngest of 5 girls (Janie, Annie, Alice, Leah & Elsie) and 1 boy (John) and is the only survivor of the family - her maiden name was Elsie Wilson Ronson.
I think, therefore, that Jane Wilson was my mother's great aunt

Quite a close connection then Steve.
Thanks can I put that bit of info on my tree it is nice to be follow them up.
Yes that would be right. I have some photo's of Elizabeth and James Wilson if you want them.
Yes Jane I would have liked to have come but looking at trains and buses it would have been a 3 hour journey each way. would have had to set off so early and I need an hour or so before I can get going in a morning sould have had to be up so early.
Sat here now bored out of my head
Hopeful one day we shll meet up. I have managed it a couple of times on the bus but now I can't find the time table for that paticular bus from Blackpool not even the bus stop i went from everything has altered round there. Last time i came there was a caoch going from Fleetwood and it was ideal took our Joe and we had a nice day.

Sorry you couldn't get Germaine but I understand with that journey. They say to use public transport then make it as inconvenient as they can!

Steve did come and we had a chat. Hopefully he will make contact via the forum Germaine. He left to have a wonder around um er somewhere near Blackpool.......I can't remember the name of the place

Yes exactly it takes so long to get anywhere. In fact I think when lookingat the timetable it looked as if the train from Preston to Southport was off and they had put a bus on. Now why should I pay train fare for a bus when I get a bus ride for nothing. Either way it takes as long.
Oh now I wonder were it was that he was interested in that  is near to Backpool
Hope you all had a lovely day.

In his first post he asked where he could stay Saturday night and that he wanted to search Banks and local churches on Sunday?   Obviously changed his itinerary.

No where to stay in Southport. Everywhere is full because of the air show.
