I have a copy of the 1914 - 15 Seed's Southport & District Directory. This includes Ainsdale, Birkdale, Churchtown & Crossens. Residents are listed alphabetically & by street. There is also a Trades Classification. Banks, Formby & Freshfield are listed separately.

I will be happy to do any look ups.

Welcome to our forum bobg.

What a very kind offer. I'm sure you will soon have someone asking for a look-up

Hi bobg

Welcome to our forum. May I be the first to ask for a lookup?

Thomas RIGBY and wife Ann lived in High Park Road area. He was a stonemason. :?:

Looking forward to hearing from you...

Dotty

Hi Dotty,

Yes you are my first "customer"

There is a Thomas Rigby listed at 38a High Park Road, he is shown as labourer. Could he be the one you are looking for? The directory only lists the head of the household, so no names of family members given.

Hope this helps

Thank you bobg

It will most probably be him. When he died in 1947 he lived at 38 High Park Road and he was listed as being a stonemason but the others in the family were brickies or labourers. Thanks very much. I'm sure that you'll be inundated with requests...

How is the weather in Canada...snow? I have friends in Calgary, Alberta and they say the snow has gone but no spring flowers yet.

Dotty

Hi Dotty,

We are in central BC, west of the Rocky Mountains, no snow, spring flowers are here and the magnolias just about ready to flower.

Hi bobg

I've got another lookup for you if you have the time. It is W R Pierce MB, who signed a death cert. I assume it is a man and that he was a doctor but that usually is an MD.

Anyway any info would be grately appreciated.

Dotty

PS

BC sounds beautiful

Sorry Dotty, no WR Pierce in either the Alphabetical listing or under Physicians & Surgeons. I also checked Banks & Formby, which includes Freshfield. Was the death cert in the 1914-15 time frame?

Bob,

Yes, 5 years is a reasonable expectation that he might have still been around.

Hi Bob

Very kind of you to offer. I'm interested in Pickup's. William Edward Pickup and his father William Pickup were both in Hart St in 1901. I'd love to know if they were listed in your directory.

Thanks

Janice

Hi Janice,

Sorry I will not be able to do the lookup for you until early September. We are on a road trip with our trailer (caravan) till then and the directory is at home.

We very much enjoyed a visit to NZ this past February, Bay of Islands, Coromandel & Taupo.

Regards, Bob

Hi Bob

No worries, it can wait. Have a great road trip. We have a ski trip to Canada high on our wishlist.

Glad you enjoyed NZ. Better there than here at the moment I'm sure - we're in drizzle patch between tornadoes and a severe storm warning.

Janice
