The Third Marriage of Edward Mawdsley (born 1835)

Edward appears to have had a third Marriage to a lady called Agnes. They had two more children:- James born 1893 and Agnes born 1896. Can anyone shed any light on her Maiden name and to any information as to what happened to them.

Jim I used FreeBMD and found

March quarter 1893 Ormskirk (8b 938)
Edward Mawdsley & Agnes Roberts

You could soon find the children's births the same way

I assume you've found them on the 1901 census?

All I have is that Agnes Roberts born c1855 Liverpool

1911 census shows them living 123 Norwood Road.
Edward 76 - Jobbing Gardener
Agnes 56
Agnes 15 - Laundry Girl
James 18 - Shop Assistant

Thank you for your help once again. Can anyone advise me as to how to find out about any marriages of James and Agnes.

The only way is to search the GRO indexes year by year.

Looking at them on Ancestry for James there are a few to pick - 2 in June quarter 1917 registered Ormskirk and one June quarter 1919 again registered Ormskirk

There is one for an Agnes Mawdsley Dec quarter 1922 registered Ormskirk

Do you know if the family stayed in Southport?
Have you any idea of a spouses first or surname?

Not sure what else to suggest

Agnes married George F Skinner in 1922 and they had James E born in 1924. James married Ethel Riding in 1919. Hope this helps.
