Thomas Barton

Can anyone help me please. I have Thomas Barton born abt 1776 in North Meols married to Margaret Whalley born about 1768. They married on the 15th Jan 1793 at North Meols. Next I have Thomas born 1764 in Garstang married on the 15th Jan 1793 to Margaret Whalley!
Next Thomas married Jane Cornall on the 15th June 1795 in Garstang and then lo and behold a month later he married Jennie Jenkins on the 15th July 1795 (seems to like the number 15!). Also Thomas has two sets of parents! This is information I have from www.familysearch.org. I know that Margaret was buried on the 6th Feb 1834 in St Cuthbert's and at the time lived with Thomas in Snutterin (someone's spelling not mine) Lane. In 1836 Thomas remarried to a widow Ann Wright. I am very confused wonder if anyone can please help me. Thanks Sheila

Well, either your man has been a very busy boy or there is more than one. He could have been a bigamist...sadly, he is not one of mine so I hope someone else can put you straight.

It seems pretty obvious that the man in Garstang is someone completely different - it's amazing how many people had the same name.

Information on the FamilySearch website is only as good as the person who submitted the information in the first place - especially when that information has come from the IGI.

According to the IGI one of my 3x gr grandparents is supposed to have had a son called Ralph - who never existed. He did have 2 sons called Joseph though, neither of whom got a mention.

The North Meols Thomas only seems to have been married twice.

I have this chap in my database; although he is not related to me various members of his family intermarry with my lot down the years

I think there are one or two forum members who do have him related (Tom, where are you?

Thanks everyone for the comments. I agree that the Garstang Thomas isn't the one even though he seems to have had the same wives as the other Thomas!!
