I think I've got William and Hugh as my 3rd cousins 5 times removed. I'm following William and his family on the Census and I'll post what I've got when I've finished, it shouldn't take too long.
Do you know which graveyard William's gravestone is in? Also I haven't got Hugh married to anyone yet, what was his wife's name?

Hi steve thank you for the information my great grandfather Hugh, son of John ,Williams son was married to Eliza Howard also I believe a fishing family in Hawes side. They married in 1871 no date available and had two children my grandfather john and Thomas, Eliza is listed on the 1901 census as a laundywoman.
Williams grave stone is in Southport cemetary , my great grandfather fished for shrimps in the bay from a Lancashire Nobby called 'Little Willie ' I am reliably informed that this boat was registered by a John Wignal in 1895 have you got any info on this
The photo of Williams grave stone came from Charles Cole who is my 4th generation cousin decended from George who was the son of Edward Willlams brother who took over the building buisness after William passed away Edward then left it to his brother Benjiman as they did not get on and presumably took up his choir and organ playing full time .
Thanks for the information. There is a possible marriage for a Hugh Wright and an Eliza Howard Jul-Aug-Sep 1865, Ormskirk Registration District, Volume 8b, Page 1095.
This couple appear on the 1871 Census with two girls, Ann J(ane) aged 2 and Margaret aged 1, both of whom seem to have died before the 1881 Census, Ann Jane in 1876 and Margaret in 1879 according to the Civil Registration Death Index. Joyce Otterstrom has them on her tree, but she's got Hugh as the son of James and Mary Wright. It does make more sense if Hugh's the son of John and Ann Wright though.
I've got quite a few John Wignalls but not any that were fishing in the 1890's I'm afraid.

Hello Steve
I think that the marriage of Hugh and Eliza you have quoted is a more likely date than the one I had, Hugh was born in 1844 and Eliza in 1843 making them 21and 22 respectively whereas my date would make them 27 and 28 a little old for the period ? also the district is right .
I am pretty sure about the parentage of Hugh, John and Ann had eleven children and Hugh was the youngest boy if you let me have your email address I can send you the family entry from my tree , pity about the boat and its history my grandfather John Hugh's eldest was a carpenter /joiner and made me a model of it which my dad and i used to sail but when we moved form our home in Eastcote Middx I sold it and now regret that as there are no photos of it available never mind i know that it existed
