I've been trawling the Liverpool Mercury & Preston Guardian papers on Gale for N Meols stories; Joyce O has been matching them up to the Park database. One which has so far eluded is is this report:
LIVERPOOL MERCURY
Friday, 6th November, 1829
On Tuesday, the 27th ult, at North Meols, “Old Betty Rimmer”, aged 82 years. This venerable Christian dame had been a widow forty years; during a considerable portion of which she taught a school, and so much diligence and piety marked her labours that many will have cause to bless her memory. She has left behind about seventy children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren
Does anyone have any clues as to who "Old Betty" was?

Seacop is sure to know the answer to this question...she may be a short while in answering, though!

This is probably the burial entry at St Cuthbert's
30th October 1829 - Elizabeth Rimmer age 81 Cop End
I had a look at the Rimmer burials from 1780 to 1790 to see if there was a Mr Rimmer from Cop End, but did not find one. So perhaps she had moved after being widowed, or her husband was buried elsewhere.
