1901 census another pair eyes please.

Could someone look at the image for this please.
The wife, there is something crossed out it does look like Betty.
James wife is Betty but she is 64 not 50 and I have found her with her sister Margery Tosker on the census. So trying to figure out what if anything was going on.
Any ideas ?

I think it is Thomas that is crossed out.  Could be that the enumerator entered it first out of sequence.   Do the children fit?

I agree with Bob - the enumerator has started to write Thomas and stopped half-way, crossed it out and put Betty in over the top.

Don't know about Betty's age, and are you sure the sister's name is Tosker?  I would have assumed it to be Tasker.
Bez

Actually I've just looked at it and the surname is Hosker - compare the "H" with the name Heaton further down the page.

They look to be 2 different Bettys to me.
Jane

Yes definietly looks like the numerator was going to oput Thom, crossed it out and wrote Betty - aged 50

Like Bez says does the rest match what you know?

Sorry for being so long in answering.

Thanks Bob and everyone  it could be like you say Thomas crossed out then added later on in the list.

Oh yes Bez my mistake it is Hosker. Betty Howards sister Margary Howard married John Hosker. Wasn't thinking right I do have Hosker.

Yes all the other details fit a couple of ages out. James wife was definately older than him on all other census on their grave too. She is born c 1836.
Children right names think one age out.
I don't know where 50 came from could be with her not being in that night he got a bit mixed up. Not hard for that lot
Thanks again
Looks like problem solved. I think

Funny...

It's weird how the info can look different each time you look at it.  This weekend I decided to find one of my Rigby husband/wife that I had assumed died before the 1901 census because they're not on it and I can't find death registrations for them...

For some strange reason they popped up it, in the same area but transcribed as 'Sigley'...it must have been there all along but I hadn't noticed it before!

Glad all's sorted Germaine.

That is so true Dotty it is amazing how and when you find them.
Mind you with  some of the writing .
You can understand how they made the errors.
Oh and those Meadows were really good at hiding.
