69 The Promenade, SouthportThis is a message received from a visitor to the forum:
"I was adopted in 1945 and my mother's address was 69 The Promenade, which I think was a maternity home run by the army for ATS girls ? and others. The Red House was where she gave birth. I know it's a long shot that anyone will remember anything so many years later, but the army can give no information. I don't think many records were kept at that time - certainly nothing much seems to have survived."
Let's hope we can work our magic with this request for help.

It may be worth seeing what was down for the address around that time but.............no electoral registers during the war and I'm not sure which local street directories were produced either. There may be one for 1945 or more likely 1946 and the place would have changed use.

I was born at The Red House on Shore Road, Ainsdale, Southport in 1942
which was a maternity home. My dad was in the Fleet Air Arm, I wonder if there's a connection?
The Red House is still there, but now a private house.
