Ackers, AtackI am looking for any Ackers or Atack.
I didn't notice anyone else looking so thought I would ask here. I hope I've done it right.

Well, it's there for all to see so you have done it right! I have a marriage certificate with Evan Ackers as a witness? If you can give more information somebody might come up with something.

HelloI used to work with a lady called Ackers...her forename escapes me at the moment but it will come back. She used to make silver jewellery and I still have the ring I bought from her in the 1960s.
As seacop says, gives us a bit more info and see what happens!

Sorry for the late response, I've got a bit caught up in other things on the forum so I missed replying to this.
Walter Ackers Firefighter. He's in his 80's now.
He married Kathleen Atack around 1955, she is in her late 70's.
This is my husbands family but again they are all a bit of a mystery and don't speek about anything in the past.
I may just get my lot into some sort of order before I go any further with this though.

Bingo...I have just remembered the lady I knew at work in the 60s. Her name was Margaret. She wasn't married so she was an Ackers.

Thanks Dotty, no relation according to hubby, but he's not much idea about any of his family.
I think I will leave the Ackers/Atack for now and try to sort the mess that I'm in with my family.

Dotty - are you sure her name was Ackers - I knew a Margaret Ackerley in the early 60's?

Am I sure...100% sure...I can see her face now. Her first name just popped into my head yesterday!
Oh well, never mind pixie...so near yet so far!

Sea cop , who was Evan Ackers a witness for?- just being nosey.
I ask as Evan married an Ann Howard in 1867 at St Maries on the Sands
Ann was the sister of my 2xgt grandfather.
Pixie
Evan Ackers 13/4/1847 born Scarisbrick, was the son of John Ackers Farmer. Deceased on son's marriage cert. Mother Margaret Spencer
they had two other sons that I know of
Henry c1845
Joseph c1839
Evan & Ann as far as I can find had four children.
John c1869- marriage to Alice Cropper -1891
Richard c1871- marriage to Margaret Mawdesley -1891
he had two sons James c1894, Richard c1895 and two daughters Ann c1892 & Alice c1899 up to 1901 census)
Elizabeth c1876 married William Johnson 1904
Louisa c 1879 -died 7 Sept 1946 Southport. Marriage to Hector Mawdesley in 1911.
Evan is almost unfindable on census after marriage.
1861 with parents in Scarisbrick
Found him on 1871 I think, living in Kirkdale as Avah Ackers :!: Cannot find him after then. I now think he changed his first name to Hugh along the way
Any use.

Evand and Ann Ackers were witnesses at the wedding of my great-grandparents Thomas Rimmer and Catherine Blundell; 10th April 1869, the Parish Church, North Meols.
Thomas (21) was a Labourer, abode The Moss, father John Rimmer occupation Labourer; Catherine (21) of Mount Pleasant, father Robert Blundell, Labourer.
If I remember rightly, and I'm not sure that I do, I think I found Ann living alone with her two boys whilst Evan was living/working in Kirkdale (Liverpool) - I can check more thoroughly if you want me to?

Thanks SeaCop. I have found Ann on her own but it was just that I think Ann probably died 1880 and I could find no trace of Evan in 1881, not even a death for him. He seems to have popped back to North Meols, got Ann in the family way and gone off again
Their children were around. Found one of their daughters living with a married cousin (previously a Howard)in another census.

Many thanks to you all for all this info. I have printed it all out for hubby to have a look at and see if he recognises anyone.
I'm having problems with my internet dropping off at regular intervals so sorry I've only just managed to see this thread.
I'll get back to you and let you all know how it goes when hubby has seen the info.
