Hello Folks
I am a bit stuck.
i am working my way through some notes my cousin Sheard Sumner has given me and i have a problem.
He has in his notes George Sumner marrying an Alice Abram in 1780 daughter of James Abram and Jane Whittle
Alice was born in 1759 and died in 1810 aged 65 (making her born in 1747)
Having had a look on Ancestry there are loads of family trees that give Alice Abram b.1747 as the daughter of Laurence Abram and Jennet Bond.
I have looked through the parish registers and the 3 Alice Abram's there married Richard Wright,Robert Wright and George Sumner.
How can I untangle this and pin down the correct parents of the Alice Abram that married George Sumner?
One idea i have is the memorial inscription for Alice Sumners death in 1810 may have a clue. Are these memorial inscriptions available anywhere?
Any help appreciated
Regards
Dave Graham

thanks for that its helpful confirmation of my suspicion
I have just checked with my cousin and he agrees that he has the wrong parents down in his notes.
Pity he didn't tell me that before I posted my essay above
what is the Park Database by the way?

Hi Dave so we must be related too I have just been speaking to Sheard on the phone.
The Park Data base is invaluable.
It is by Joyce L. C. Otterstrom
So much info off parish records. Woudl take years to read it all.

I'd just add that it is quite likely that the Park database is the ultimate source for most of those Ancestry trees! Certainly is for mine
PS that George Sumner is my GGGGG-uncle, but I have not yet started on his family
PPS hmm - Park database has the Alice Abram who was daughter of Lawrence & Jennet as married to Robert Wright. It's getting late, need sleep, maybe all will become clear in the morning

Hi Dave. I know I thought would just ring and see who he was, was on the phone ages.
Turns out we once met in the library and another time in the cemetry.
That would be good to compare finds and have a brew too.
Wlil email you.
Yes Dotty will have to keep him to that.
