AlveyI was wondering if anyone has any information on the Alvey family that settled in Southport.
Herbert Alvey b1878 Sykehouse, Yorkshire. Six Children born in Manchester and Leigh between the years 1905-1913. Family moved to Southport after 1913
Theres also a Birch, Lloyd and Yates family connection aswell.
Cheers

Looks like a Southport Library/Street Directory search here Have you looked in the old telephone book listings on ancestry.co.uk? A quick search shows (1978):
Alvey, P : 290 Guildford Road
Alvey, W.H. : 17 Elm Road, Birkdale

As Seacop says the local reference library is the best place to go. They stock local directories with surname lists to help you find the address. You could then search the old electoral registers.
Another suggestion - have you tried the local forum - Southport.GB.com
They have a section Southport past and people often ask for information on local people. Someone may know of that family.

The Alvey name does not appear in the Southport 1914-15 directory. This does not mean they were not living in Southport at that time, they could have been in lodgings or staying with friends.
