An ongoing problem with the Suttons...............I have a problem
I have long believed that I am related to William “Old Duke” Sutton but it appears that I’m now related to one of his brothers and not directly to him. The problem is which brother?
Robert was born 1738 married Jane Ball in 1769 and then Anne Bond in 1771. They had four kids, two sons. Matthew married Elizabeth Longton in 1799 and they had three sons Robert, Thomas and John.
John born in 1741 married Ann Aughton in 1759 and they had three sons William, Shadrach and Richard. William married Margaret Wright and had 10 kids including Robert and Thomas.
I have got documentation from myself back to Henry Sutton born in 1826 and the 1841 census shows that a Robert Sutton and a Thomas Sutton were living together with a Henry Sutton aged 15. The question is who is Henry’s father, Robert or Thomas and from which of the two lines?
I would be grateful if anyone can help.
