Banns not signedDoes "Banns not signed mean" there wasn't a marriage.
I found an entry for the Banns but can't find a marriage in the parish records.
Also can't find the couple on the next census. Though he does turn up on later ones with a different wife.

I've never seen that. I have seen marriage didn't take place written in a banns book
but it does sound like the marriage didn't happen - I wonder why?

Well I have found him no wife ( flippin ancestry Dewhurst down as Dawes has taken hours to find him) so maybe she did hear about his illigit. child and decided not to go ahead.
Still can't find her. Perhaps she died.
So it looks like it is right the marriage didn't take place.
Least it has saved him from being the bigamist I found
He must have been still in touch with his daughter as he is living next door but one to the lad his daughter married.
Oh such fun
