Bonds of Goose Dub

This picture is of the Bond family, farmers at Goose Dub on Charnleys Lane in Banks.

Seated at the front are William Bond (born 1889) and Dinah (born about 1890) his wife, maiden name Dinah Cropper.

Standing at the back are Cliff Bond, Jane Bond who married Richard Blundell, Peter Bond (my grandfather) who married Elizabeth Thompson, Violet Bond who married Jeremiah Robinson Todd, and lastly John Bond who married Betty Andrews. The little scamp far left is the only one still living.

Peter & Elizabeth Bond ran the farm after William, and my mother was born there. William died on the 22nd December 1879 aged 91 years, and even in his old age he was a huge man. I remember often visiting him on Gravel Lane with my mother, but I don't think I ever understood a word he said! I have the same trouble with my father sometimes.

This photo is of Dinah Bond (nee Cropper) in a more natural pose, also taken at Goose dub. She died 16th March 1856 and is buried with husband William in St Johns, Crossens.

My next post will be of Dinah's family, the Croppers, on holiday in the Isle of Man.

Regards

Steve Baxter
