CENSUS 1881 NORTH MEOLSJust found a Lydia Maud Elliott from Manchester. Staying at a boarding school on 14 Queens Road, North Meols, Lancs in 1881.
Wonder if the building is still there? If anyone knows anything about it?

Welcome to the forum Jo.
I like out emoticons too
This might be a hard one because a lot of street numbers have changed. Without going to look I wouldn't know if it is still standing - maybe a local directory would have it's name too rather than just a boarding school.
You could try looking at an aerial view on the Internet - http://maps.live.com/#JndoZXJlMT1...0MDEzNzgyNjkzJTdlLTcuNDcwNzAzMTI1
Not sure if that helps.
Are you local? Or near enough to get into the local reference library - they have all the street directories

I think this building would be between Hawkshead Street ( note the spelling - different from the 'Lake District' spelling; I used to live at No.5 and found it very difficult at first to write my address correctly - according to Southport MBC) and Alexander Road - next time I drive down Queens Road I'll try and have a look, but as stated previously, the chances are it's now turned into flats
