District 23 1891 censusI have a family that I cannot find in North Meols on the 1891 census.
A daughter married in March 1892 giving her as living in Upper Aughton Road at the time.
Problem is I cannot find Upper Aughton Road in the ennumeration districts description and notice that District 23 is not listed on Ancestry.
District 25 mentions Mosely St/Boundary St..
24 mentions Belmont St.
so should be near there.
Anyone know if this part is missing???

you might be better looking at the fiche in the library - I shall now go and see what I can find on Ancestry
Um Ancestry has no district 23.........I think you would be better looking at the fiche in the library. If that is also missing then obviously it was missed but I bet it is Ancestry

I must say the census fiche in the library are usually easy to search. I daren't say all in case I'm wrong - but most are street indexed. I know the 1901 census was re-done by the library staff because the index which came with it wasn't too good.
What time are you planning to be in there?

When did the street name change? Could it have been between 1891 and 1892? Is it worth looking for Aughton Road? So many questions - and no bloomin' answers

Upper Aughton Street hasn't changed its name - maybe you are thinking of King Street & Upper King Street
If you go on Ancestry - 1891 census - scroll down and fond Lancashire, click on North meols and look at the list of districts 23 is missing

Do you have a house number? Seems to be listed on Findmypast. It's in ED 7, unless there are 2 Upper Aughton Rds
On Ancestry search by RG12 Piece 3032 Folio 4 Page 1 Should take you to # 1 Upper Aughton Rd

I just had a look using Brian's numbers and it says district 7 - and definitely Upper Aughton Road
Thanks Brian

Yes, thanks Brian. No. haven't got a house number, just looking around that area as most of her family are around Broome Road, she isn't, and she has children who should be with her as well and cannot find them either.
She should be surname Barker, but 2nd hubbie died 1890 and she didn't remarry again(third hubbie to be)until Dec 1891 and then living in Broom Road.
Have trawled all of Broom Road today but she isn't there. Should be with daughter Annie Rimmer c1882, and perhaps Elizabeth Rimmer c1871 (she married 1892 - Upper Aughton Road.
Her first hubbie was the one killed by the horse, or rather blood poisoning from his wounds
Jane, hopefully around 10am.
Wellllllllllllll it's either me being very thick orrrrrrrrrr!
Went into ED7 and that was was High Park way.
Went and put the RG ref and that brought me to Upper Aughton Road, she's not there, now for Kew Road

Upper Aughton Street
I wasn't thinking of any other Road but Upper Aughton - mistakes happen and I wondered if the Enumerator may have missed the 'Upper' bit; it may also have been that the Ward Boundary could have changed!

Now know where I went wrong looking for the address. Was looking North Meols, not Birkdale districts.
only took until last district in North Meols until I realized there were Birkdale districts
