Elias PickavanceHi
I'm looking for any information to help me knock down a brick wall.
I'm looking for details of an Elias Pickavance born c1817 in Aughton, Lancs. I know he married Ellen Hewitt in 1839 in All Saints, Wigan.
He's the father of Margaret Pickavance, my husband's gt gt gt grandmother.

The only Pickavance family I know of are from St Helens; my paternal grandmother was Elizabeth Pickavance married Robert Rimmer April 1901, apparently her mother was Ellen Pickavance and on her marriage certificate it gave her father as Thomas but who was, in fact, her grandfather :eek:

PickavanceI am sure there were Pickavances in High Park in the fifties. he had a fish round and was related to Fred Law of High Park Road (or am I dreaming?)
his party trick in the Bold Churchtown was to do a hand-stand on two wine glasses, which usually resulted in cut hands! Yes, I'm sure I am dreaming.
