Fearn family.Today I had a dabble on the 1911 census.
Couldn't find my gt grandparents but did find one of my 2nd gt granduncles.
John Howard who married Mary Barton and they are still living at 2 Crowland St..(3xgt grandfather died there)
All his daughters are gone but there was a grand daughter Gladys Fearn born 1906
This has led me to a marriage of Alice Ann Howard to a John William Fearn in 1895. John Howard had a daughter Alice Ann so quite sure it is her. but will probably send off for the marriage cert eventually.
Cannot find a John William Fearn in North Meols in 1891 census.
Anyone know whether the Fearns came from elsewhere??

Are we talking about an ancestor of Ronnie Fearn - ex MP of Southport?
If we are then myself & Seacop did some family history research for him & his wife a couple of years ago. I did the Fearn side - they originated from Manchester
If you want any more info send me a PM or email - secretary@nmfhssouthport
Just had a look and there was a Gladys born 1906

That's the problem Jane, I don't know, only just found her today.
I have one credit left on 1911 census and don't particularly want to spend it finding out where he was born ie John William.
Alice Ann appears to have died 1908 as there is a death that fits.
John William is still inSouthport 1911 with a possible son John born 1899

Yes.
All people in Southport called FEARN seem to be related
Ronald Cyril Fearn - born 6 February 1931
This is Lord Fearm - who was MP
His parents - James Fearn & Martha Ellen Hodge
James's parents - John William Fearn and Alice Ann Howard
So James was Ronnie Fearn's Grandfather
As I say I have loads of info on the Fearn & Howard line. I could email it to you if you want?

Dotty,
At first I worked near the presses, on magnetizeing. Mr D'Arcy was my boss.
Later on, upstairs, near the canteen, putting the magnets through a micrometer,

Small world...I bet if we had photos we would recognise each other.
The factory has just closed...it was on a skeleton staff for years.
Here's a sad story...
I worked in an office that looked out on Balmoral Drive right opposite the council houses. My g.grandmother used to live there and I often saw her looking out on the street at her gate. My mother used to try to get me to visit her but I wouldn't...Mum hadn't spoken to her in years (the family fell out). Oh, how I wish I'd gone over and introduced myself! She was a tiny bird-like lady but I believe she had a will of iron...
