hello , i'm new and need help! Re. William Brighouse Joneshaving recently taken up the addictive pastime of trying to trace my family tree, i stumbled across your website. i've come to a major blockage and could do with some help(if poss)
im trying to find any information on my great great grandfather. his name was william jones and his address in 1898 was 1 east road (presumably in the southport area). his son,my great grandfather, was called william brighouse jones and lived most of his life at 40 mount street, southport. he married eliza mary hill of upper aughton road. i recently obtained a copy of their marriage certificate (they married at the parish church of st peter, birkdale on 30th april 1898) to try and trace any info on my g g grandfather but to no avail.
ive trawled ancesty.co.uk but there are 1000s of william jones but with the little info i have its like looking for a needle in a haystack!
my great grandad inherited the brighouse name, which if family folklore is to be believed came from my g g grandad being adopted by sir samuel brighouse (lancashire county coroner late 1800s early 1900s) born and bred in ormskirk. but i cant find the connection.
if anyone can help or give me any direction then this would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
