Its been so difficult tracing Taylors in North Meols but I think I'm winning (could be worse - could be Rimmers!).

I've now got back to Henry b 1757, married Betty Kellet b 1760 at St Cuthberts on 27/2/1786. Henry died 1829 less than a year after Betty.

Henry's father was William 1734-1824, died in Hesketh Bank, but who was Henry's mother and who were Betty's folks.

Betty's not on my lines but I do have her on my (rather extended) tree as the daughter of David & Ellen Kellet baptised 8 November 1761 in Penwortham.

I don't know if it's right or not, but it does seem to fit. I think I downloaded the baptism from www.familysearch.org if I remember rightly.

From the Penwortham Parish Registers are the following possibilities:

Baptism. David Kellet son of Robert Kellet de Penwortham, 4 Jan 1722

Marriage. David Kellet & Ellen Maire 26 Dec 1750

Note the following spellings are included under Mayor:- Mager, Maier, Maiere, Maior, Maiore, Mair, Maire, Mare, Mayer, Mayre.

Baptism of Ellen:
1) father John Mayre de Georges de Hutton, 2 July 1711
2) daughter of Richard Mayre: Ascroft de Hutton, 18 Aug 1724.
3) daughter of Thomas Maire de Hutton Weaver, 25 Oct 1724
4) daughter of Robert Mayre Senio (sic) de Hutton, 22 Sep 1723

I'll try and follow that avenue.

Do your Penwortham records suggest that my Henry, born in 1757, might be the son of William Taylor & Anne Foster (or Forshaw), both of Penwortham, who married on 18th February 1753. Its a stab in the dark given the new found Penwotham connection.

I have the CD of a copy of the Episcopal Transcripts held in Chester, which only covers from 1608 to 1753, so unfortunately cannot confirm the baptism of Henry Taylor. It does show the marriage of William Taylor & Anne Foster (or Forshaw) 18 Feb 1853.
