HORNBYhi, i'm trying to find out who the mother of my grandad was...as no-one in the family seems to remember wot her name woz..
my grandad was called William Hornby ..13/2/1921,i know his father was
called henry hornby and i have dates of wen he was born and died,although no matter where i search i can't find who his mother woz..wud appreciate it if anyone can help...!!!

Um sorry if I this sounds silly - if you know when he was born can't you send for his birth certificate which will have his Mother's name on?

There is a marriage in 1920 for a Henry Hornby to a Emily Rawlinson, Toxteth Park, Register Office or Registrar Attended.
but you do need the birth cert of William to confirm mother's maiden name like Jane says.
