Its probably an outside chance because this line only arrives in Southport by marriage but I'd really like to know more about the above.
My grandfather, Reginald Aspinwall (26/8/193 Southport) married Nellie Cairns (5/4/1896 Fulwood) daughter of John.
John was born in Tupsley, Hereford in 1868.
By 1871 he seems to be in Oxford at age 3
In 1881 he could be anywhere, I certainly can't find him
In 1891 he's in Dumfries working as a gardener
In 1894 he marries Charlotte Clare in Warrington and
in 1901 he's in Fulwood.
It less usual for people to move around so much 100 years ago and I wonder if anyone can come up with a suggestion.

I think people moved around a lot more than many of us imagine - I have a Mary Cooke coming to Southport from The House of Mercy in Clewer (near Windsor), with a child, between 1881 and 1884! The 'hiring fairs' would have caused people to travel great distances - for instance 30 miles south to the fair and then 30 miles north to the job, hence a 60 mile distance from home, repeat that the following year and they're in the Midlands from North Meols!

Remember also that Southport, as well as becoming a well known resort in its own right, was but a short ride from Liverpool, which from the 1840s on sucked in vast numbers of tradesmen and labourers from all parts of the country, to become for a time England's second city.
