LloydI am researching my husbands ancestors - Lloyd.
I have found several generations on the parish registers of St.Michaels and All Angels, Altcar, and S.Peters, Green Lane, Formby.
The earliest mention of a Lloyd on St.Peters was a marriage in 1767.
My husband's gt.gt.grandparents were married in 1834 at St.Peters - James and Mary Lloyd.
We think there may be an Ainsdale connection!
However, I have not been successful in finding James's christening.
I am posting this in the hope that someone else out there is researching the Lloyd name, or perhaps some kind person can point me in the right direction.

Further to my earlier post, I have now found that the father of James was Peter Dickinson born Birkdale c.1789, he married Margaret Liversley in 1813 at St.Peters Church, Green Lane, Formby.
I am now trying to follow the Birkdale lead..............
Can't find a baptism for Peter born c.1788 anywhere!

Hello Glenys
I have just joined in the hope of sharing information with you. I too am researching the 'Lloyds' for my Dad.
Got a lot of early information, but not as much as I would like from say 1940's forward.
I have just struck really lucky and found the ancestors I was searching for in Canada.
Look forward to sharing info perhaps...

Hiya Dev
Sounds good to me.
I see you are looking for Shaw too? I have made contact with a Julie Shaw on gene's reunited who has my family members in her tree - but alas not heard back Wonder if you are connected to her? that would put us with the same ones.
I have just managed to find the details of Peter Lloyd who emmigrated to Canada in 1910, I now have his wife and his children from the obits, and the death certs of both him and his wife.
Are you going to the next meeting in March? I am hoping too.

Hi Lynda
Just to clarfiy one point in one of your posts. ref; Peter Lloyd emigrating to Canada 1910. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe this to be Paul Lloyd 1886-1971 emigrated to Canada c1910. Had two wives before his death and various children. He was uncle to my wife.

Hi Alan,
I believe Peter and Paul are distant cousins. Paul setting up in Ontario and Peter starting off in Manitoba before ending up in British Columbia, Canada.

Well found Dev? not even come across Paul Lloyd yet.
Hi Alan, this is certainly my Peter, have many records on him now - still not found him on the shipping lists though, but through my Canadian contact we believe him to have arrived around 1909 now - dont have my records in front of me, but he did die before 1971 I have his death cert now.
Thanks for post though, always worth checking.

Thank you Dev. That just shows that there are many branches to the Lloyd family. Peter does not appear on the branches that I am working on. Thank you.

The Findmypast records have only one Peter Lloyd heading for Canada between 1907 and 1911 - a 26 year old labourer aboard the Empress of Ireland bound for Quebec in 1909, travelling alone. Could that be him?
