Long shot on the Woodfine family

I have a marriage for John Richard Ball and Emily Woodfine in 1920 at St Stephen's North Meols. Trouble is I can't find her anywhere else. I know it's not a local name but has anyone heard of it?
As I said, it's a long shot.

Try Google - there are a few links to the name

I also did a search on the 1901 census just putting in the surname no place etc. 246 hits but some may be woodbine. Might be worth a look.

More info...

Hello Barbara

Have you by any chance got the marriage cert for them.  If so, it should give her father's name and address which will give you somewhere to check out on the 1891 census.  If not, then I'd say get it straight away or check the 1891 census for family members.

I'm sure someone else will be along shortly to give you their input.

Regards and good hunting!

Hi Dotty and Jane
I haven't got the certificate but someone went to the Lancs records office for me as I live in France. The bride's father was named as Charles Woodfine but the name had been crossed out and initialled by the vicar. Any idea why that would happen?
Thanks for the google suggestion Jane. I hadn't thought of that.

I wonder if there was a note in the margin of the parish register?

I think it would be best if you could send for the certificate. There may be a note written on it that would be of interest & use.

You can order online at this link - http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

The details you would need are

John Richard Ball - Emily Woodfine
Marriage registered June quarter 1920 Ormskirk 8b 1805
