My name is Kevin Wood. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada.
My maternal Grandmother, Minnie, came to Welland, Ontario with her brother and parents, from Southport in 1912.
Minnie's Father was Arthur, whose family resided at 106 Lord St. at the time of the 1881 census. Her Mother was Jenny Brookfield who, in 1881 lived at 48A High Park Road.
Although my Great Grandfather, Arthur, was born in about 1874, I remember having met him. He spent the last few months of his life with me and my family in the early fifties.
I'd be delighted to hear from anyone with connections.

It is not surprising that the photo of Jenny Brookfield contains a pigeon fancier after all High Park Road was the capital of the pigeon universe.

Dear Mr Griffiths,
Thank you for your email. I have searched the street directories and have found several references to Charles Mallin. He last seems to appear in 1899 when he is listed at 29 Linaker Street, between 1896 and
1892 he is listed at 16 Neville Street. In 1890 he is at 195 Lord Street and between 1886 and 1882 at 177a Lord Street. Prior to this between 1882 and 1873 a Charles Malin - note only one L - described as a painter/artist was listed at 16 Hope Street. I hope that this information is of some use to you.
yours sincerely,

Brian,
Thanks for posting this information. I don't, with any certainty, know who the subjects of the Mallin portraits are. I can only guess. (they look too young to be my GG Grandparents as they would have been 48 and 49 in 1893.
Now that I have a firm idea when they were taken, I can go from there.
