Margaret Rimmer 1872Hi
Ive been looking into my family tree and Im totaly stuck tracing my great grandmother Margaret Rimmer. There are so many Rimmers I dont know which one she is! All I know was she was born about 1872 in Southport, married a Harry Griffiths and moved to Mossley.
Can anyone help? There seem to be quite a few Margaret Rimmers born about 1872??? :-|
Thanks

Hi
Your best bet is to try and get a copy of the marriage certificate for Margaret and Harry. It's the only option really with the Rimmer's, there are thousands of them!
It looks to me like they married Apr-May-Jun 1907 in Ormskirk Registration District, Volume 8b, Page 1302. With this information you should be able to order the marriage certificate, if the date fits.

sometimes you can get an idea of which rimmer if you check the census prior to the marriage. here is what I found there are 6 margaret rimmers born in southport all but 2 are married in 1901, one was born in 1873 still living at home with parents John and Jane. the other was born 1871 and is a servant in churchtown.

You definitely need to get that Marriage Certificate! The ages on Census Records are notoriously fickle and can be several years out

Hello All
To be honest the ages given on the certificates aren't always that accurate, and often just FA is entered (Full Age).
The Marriage Certificate would at least the the father of the bride and groom, as well as the father's occupation. This should help narrow down the field a little. To get Margaret's true birth date you'd need a Birth Certificate, or the Baptism records should show it by 1872.
