Hi,
I was wondering if anyone out there can help me, I have my Grandmothers birth and marriage certificates which both state that her father was Robert Marshall, I also have a marriage certificate for my great grandparents which also states his name as Robert, but today I recieved my Great Grandmothers death certificate which says that she was the widow of Robert William Marshall.
My Great Grandparents marriage certificate records;

Wesleyan Mission Chapel Birkdale on 14/02/1912

Robert Marshall, bachelor, age 21 years, chemists porter, of 12 Stamford Rd Birkdale, his father William Marshall, a lamp lighter.

Hetty Blackwell, spinster, age 23 years, no occupation, of 40 Matlock Rd Birkdale, her father Humphrey Blackwell (deceased), an iron ore miner.

from the marriage certificate I think he was born around 1890/1891, I thought I had found him on the 1901 census aged 9 at Poplar Street , Southport (an address my grandmother remembers visiting from childhood)

I was wondering if he was named Robert on his birth certificate but when he was baptised they added William, I have not been able to find the original baptism records for Southport does anyone know where they are?

I would guess the middle name was added at a later date from when his birth was registered. Maybe at his baptism as you think.

When you say the original records - which church do you mean? St Cuthbert's? Then they are held at the Lancashire record Office in Preston
