Moses Lloyd

Hi i'm trying to trace a Moses Lloyd d.o.b or christening, Feb 7th, 1881.

Moses was born in North Meols and married Elizabeth Heaton (b c1875 Birkdale). Moses passed away in 1946.

Im also trying to trace his father who i believe was called Robert.

Cheers

Small world

I was engaged to a Lloyd and he had an uncle Moses.  It probably was the same family as Moses isn't exactly common these days.

The Moses I knew had a joinery firm on Liverpool Road in Birkdale, opposite the Red Chapel Methodist church.

Only had a quick look this look like the family in 1881. Gives info on the parents and needs checking

Hi Germaine - I had put that information up last night - didn't bother putting the whole lot until I was sure it was the right person/family.   If it is then I don't mind putting the full extract on - saves the old fingers from getting worn down even further

Hi SeaCop Your right

I suppose it's best for two of us to put the information on than nobody    Admin often has to tell me off for duplicating things

Just had a quick search of 1911 census (without using credits)
seems to be only Elizabeth Ellen c 1876 with Moses on there.

Joyce O's data base has a Robert b1846 Birkdale, which may be above
bobg

In the Alphabetical Classification of the 1914/15 Southport Directory a Moses Lloyd is shown as stnmsn, journeyman, at 43 Guildford Rd.

In the Street Classification for 43 Guildford Rd., Moses Lloyd, fish dealer.

Once we know if we are on the right track there are a lot o records for Lloyd on the Lancs Parish reocrd site.

Well...

My fiance's father was Moses cousin and he was a stonemason.  He built the roundabout at the bottom of Eastbank Street (before they redeveloped it).  So it shows that it was in the family...

Hi Dotty, "Mo" Moses Lloyd who lived and had his business on Liverpool Road was my Uncle who sadly passed away almost 17 years ago.

Moses Lloyd was Mo Lloyd's grandfather was a journeyman stonemason.

I'd like to thank everyone for their help. Thank you. Its also given extra info that i never had when i lost all my records and references stored on my computer. Ive learnt the hard way, back everything up or have written documents.

Once again thank you.

SeaCop any idea where Noland Street is? Or it that Crowland Street in Blowick?
Yvonne

Looking at other roads on the same census area it looks more like Southbank Road area, and others named are Chestnut St and Portland St.
Crowland St is nearer Meols Cop.
It shows it is Craven Ward whilst Crowland was Talbot in 1891
Jane

Obviously a transcription error

There is a list of street name changes on the forum - http://nmfhssouthport.myfreeforum.org/about1595.html

Nothing even similar but some of the misspellings etc I've seen on the census which are available on these pay to view sites really are unbelievable. Then again some of the enumerators hand writing also leaves a lot to be desired
SeaCopRimmer

Noland Street could be Nolan Street (somebody, somewhere, thought there should be a 'd' on the end) - which is off Chestnut Street (twixt Portland Street and Southbank Road);  and the family were in Cemetery Road - just round the corner - in 1881!

Just seen your post - Moses is my husband's 3rd cousin three times removed. My research suggests that Robert is the youngest son of Peter Lloyd and Ellen Barton and Peter is the son of James Lloyd and Alice Jackson. I can let you have what I've got if that would help.

Dev, I think we may need to talk

from the 1981 census above, Peter is my G Grandfather - this is the tree I am researching.

Mo Lloyd the joiner is some sort of cousin to my Dad.  I am that buried in paperwork just now cant expain the exact relationship just now.  My Dad is currently searching for a photograph he has with Peter and one of the other brothers on.

Its one of Peter's sons I have just found detail of in Canada.

Small world Dotty  May be that Dad may know you too.

Noland Street/Crowland Street?

Just to muddy the waters- Somebody suggested it could be Crowland Street and I see on the 1891 census entry that Dad was born in Blowick and a son was a gas stoker. Could the family have returned to their Blowick roots? I recall that the gas works was/is in Crowland Street.

I look forward to hearing more info Lynda

Son Peter, was a gas stoker, our verbal family history always said he was a 'lamp lighter' so close, one of the records I have say he worked at the gas works too.  The records I have so far are all around Birkdale at least for my side.   Peter was my G Grandfather.

I think I had better straighten up my records for Dev, I have a desk buried in all kinds of records here, nothing in order as yet
