Nathan Cropper birth abt 1783I have now found Nathan Cropper [sic] of this parish marriage to Sarah Marsh at St Michael Aughton on 16 apr 1833, with witnesses Edward Cropper, Betty Marsh, Peter Barton. will the Edward Cropper be Nathans brother? Nathan does have a sister Catherine Cropper she married John Bridge 9 jan 1804 at Formby. can anyone find Nathan Cropper birth about 1783. Also what does [sic] mean?

i am sure other more literate members can better explain the meaning of sic but it is a note that a peculiarity in the quotation is literally exact. For example if I quoted from a book "John Smith was born in Southport, Cheshire in 1923" sic it means I know Southport isnt in Cheshire but that is what the book says.
Is there an obvious error in your example?

It means that is the spelling used in the original document, even if it seems to be wrong.

Hi I got Nathan Cropper death cert 1860 he was living in Aughton looks like he could have been born 1793 according to the cert. Informant was Mary Porter. I have looked and found a marriage of Mary Cropper to James Porter in 1853. Nathans daughter Margaret Cropper married a James Wright same year 1853, both in Aughton. Could this Mary Cropper be a relative of Nathans, Nathan,s other children are Alice 1837 born Aughton, Thomas 1835, and Henry born 1836. Hsa anyone found any records for any of these?
