Newton Street

Which would be their local church?

The one most likely to have been used for baptisms - 1915 - 1930

My dad was born in Newton Street 1906 and he was baptised at St Simon & St Jude (as were his brothers - but not the girls)?

Thought it might have been. Know where to go and look now ta
sylvia

the old tin church st simon and st judes, or the methodist opposit, i dont know if those churchs were in high park rd or russell rd as they are a continuation of each other,
the tin church is no longer there, there's  new house's on the site now,
st simons and st judes is now at lane ends, end  of old park lane, in the grounds of the chaple.
it could also have been, all saints. a lot of people in high park went there all saints school, in wennington rd is no longer there, house's again. the church of all saints is on a corner  opposite the entrance to hesketh park,
or
if they lived at the top end of newton st maybe the methadist in canning rd, you have a few to go at there, of course i dont know if all of these church's were built then

Thanks for that Sylvia. I am guessing St Simon's because one of them used that church until he died. We went to his funeral there a couple of years ago.

I've just had a look at The Lancashire Record Office sire & did a search for St Simons -

SOUTHPORT, St Simon and St Jude (North Meols); Diocese of Liverpool
C 1905-2002
M 1906-1965

Both original registers so that I think makes a search easier

Update

St Simons was like a nissan hut and that has gone now.  The Primitive Methodist church as was, is still there but called something else but still Methodist.

All Saints, on the corner opposite Hesketh Park, burned down sometime in July 1972 and is now on Allerton Road/Park Road
