Have you any Tabrons (Tabourns, Taburns etc) on that database of yours. Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'd be interested in this lot too - they are all 4th to 8th cousins

PS delboy - is that you, Derek? We've "met" on Genesreunited I think
baxtersp

I only seem to have four from St Cuthbert's, and they all call themselves Tabron.

SeaCopRimmer

I have 28 Tabron names and 18 Taburn's - will sort out how to copy and paste them and then post them
BrianG

Anyone know who the Jane Blundell is on # 3? Is she a Tabron who married a Blundell (can't see any in the bmd) or the daughter of Richard Blundell & Ann Sephton? If so what's the connection?
Delboy

Thanks, Baxtersp!
and SeaCopRimmer - thanks in anticipation!
SeaCopRimmer

Here's the Tabron lot;  I think if you download them onto A4 and then make it landscape they might (fingers crossed) come out in their correct columns

Just noticed you have him on Ancestry Brian
baxtersp

Jane Blundell (previously Davies, nee Ruffler) is Timothy's mother in law.

From North Meols Parish Registers (on microfiche) at Lancashire Record Office, Baptisms 1836 - 1875, PR 3361/1/6 extracted by SPB.

Steve
Did you mean "sister-in-law", Timothy's wife Elizabeth was also d. of John & Ann Ruffler I think.
I can see Jane Ruffler m Charles Davies 1864 and then Jane Davies m Edward Blundell 1874.
Jane & Betty Ruffler are both on the 1861 census with their parents.
Edward Blundell was previously married to a Mary Rimmer
baxtersp

Betty/Elizabeth is Jane's daughter.  If she was Ann's daughter she'd be about 54 when she gave birth.

I see what you mean
I saw the age difference between Jane & Betty and did wonder for a moment, but they failed to mention that on the 1861 census - Betty is simply listed as a daughter.
And I wish they could spell ! I might then have spotted the 1871 census
baxtersp

Like the Tabron's the Ruffler's have a bit of trouble deciding how to spell their name.  Sometimes the only way to find them is search for their approximate age and first name.

I don't know if the 1861 Census was a mistake by the Enumerator or an attempt by John & Ann to cover up for their daughter.
Delboy

Yes, thanks for that baxtersp and Yvonne. I thought that Betty was Jane's daughter, but had no real information.
Lynda

I came across a Mr and Mrs Tim Tabron today in the 1929 visiter (whilst chasing up my obits).

there is a photograph of their 50th Wedding Anniversary - I printed it out so will add it later when I have scanned it.

Lynda

From St Cuthbert's Marriage Register:
05.02.1879
Timothy Tabron (21) Bachelor, Bricklayer, Churchtown;  father Joseph, Labourer,   married
Elizabeth Ruffler (19) Spinster, Churchtown - no father listed
Witnesses:  Peter Rimmer and Elizabeth Ann x Cadwell

05.02.1879
Peter Rimmer (21) Bachelor, Bricklayer, Churchtown;  father Thomas, Labourer,   married
Elizabeth Ann Cadwell (20) Spinster, Marshside;  father James, labourer
Witnesses:  Timothy Tabron and Elizabeth Ruffler

NOW - which of the female witnesses used a false name   If the two couples married on the same day (as per the Register) surely one of the ladies would have a different name by the time she was a witness for the second couple who married?

Does the Golden Wedding article mention a double wedding?
Delboy

Elizabeth Ann Cadwell's aunt, Martha, also married a Timothy Tabron, cousin of the one referred to, in 1875.
Lynda

No mention of double wedding no.

Incase you cant see it, the writing at the botton reads....

Mr and Mrs Tim Tabron celebrated their Golden Wedding in Southport on Tuesday.  Mr Tabron still carries on his trade as a bricklayer in spite of his 72 years.  He had five sons who served in the war, and lost one.  His wife is 70 years of age.

(found in The Southport Visiter.  Thursday, February 7th, 1929)
Delboy

Great!!
Thanks for that, Lynda. I have never seen a picture of these two, who are my great grandparents.
How did you get the picture, if you don't mind my asking.
Lynda

Oh thats great, I am glad they are related to you - I just recognised the name from spotting it here last night.

I was going through the mini flims of the Southport Visiter looking for Obits at the library.  So, its in the quarter containing Feb 1929.  If you want the print out I did send me your address by PM and I will post it to you.

Lynda
Jane

That is kind of you Lynda

Dellboy the Southport Reference library hold film of all the back issues of the Southport Visiter - 1844 to the present time. The most recent issues they keep until they are transferred to film

If you know the exact date of a death for example library staff will look in the local papers for a funeral report - not sure what they charge, it depends how long the search takes

I do free searches for society members.

But each print out costs 50 pence - the library charge not mine I should add.
Dotty

Great

What a good find Lynda.  So glad you have something to add to your family file Delboy.  I love it when things come together.

Interesting observation about the marriage witnesses, seacop.  How the heck are you?

Dotty
SeaCopRimmer

I know I shouldn't be rude about somebody's predecessors, but that couple look as if they were the stereotypical seaside postcard couple

Dotty - apart from a bunged-up ear, dodgy thyroid and high blood pressure I'm fine - especially on such a beautiful day
Dotty

But...

At least Mrs Tabron has a smile on her face...unusual I would say.  She looked like she was a jolly nice person.

Oooeerrr... don't go getting yourself excited until you upgrade the old insurance policies...ha ha ha!

Mr Tabron not looking too happy though, I think I know who rules in that house

Found an obituary in an old issue of the Southport Visiter today:

22nd January 1938
TABRON, Timothy died 19th January aged 81 years at his home 50 Hereford-road.  Interment today at 2pm at St Cuthbert's.

25th January 1938
Miss Tabron wishes to thank doctors, relatives and all kind friends for their sympathy and beautiful floral tributes during her recent sad bereavement.

Also got a copy of the funeral report if anybody wants it?   I'm not good at scanning but willing to give it a go
Delboy

Timothy Tabron

I'd love to have a copy. It's my great grandfather. I'd be more than grateful if you would 'have a go'.
SeaCopRimmer

I've got it scanned but I can't seem to paste it on here - if you pm me with your address I'll put a copy in the post for you
Jane

To put photo's on the forum you have to use Photobucket - full instructions on the forum under - Posting Photographs
SeaCopRimmer

Thanks Jane - you know more than most how useless I am with these 'technical' thingies
Dotty

Great

Seacop you are being too modest...

How thrilling to have a bit more information to give delboy!  Good work everyone!

Dotty
SeaCopRimmer

Not sure if this is a relation to anybody or not, but thought I'd post the information just in case:

Birth Announcement:
TABRON:  On January 8th, 1947, at Christiana Hartley Maternity Hospital to Evelyn (nee Easto?) wife of Jimmy Tabron, 39 Ribble Avenue, Crossens - a son (John Eric).  Grateful thanks to Hospital Staff.
Delboy

John Tabron

Thanks, SeaCopRimmer! That's my cousin. Haven't seen him for ...... hmmm, well a long, long time, even though we share noses (so I told).
SeaCopRimmer

Forgot to say it was from a Southport Visiter, but I suppose you guessed that anyway!   It was the Ribble Avenue address that caught my eye   Does the family still live there?
Delboy

Ribble Ave

No. I didn't know they'd ever lived there. To me they always lived in Chesterfield.
Dotty

Thanks

Good job seacop...I was once looking for an obituary of my g.grandmother and had a copy made.  When I showed my Mum she looked down the page and said "Oh, look that's Aunty Ivy's mother" so that helped me with info from an extended family.
