TabronsThe male line of my family seems to have been in N Meols since about 1800. Nothing much before. I wonder how they got there?
Anybody come across any of them?
They occasionally married a Rimmer oor Threlfall.

North Meols was a fairly dissolute place until the late 1790's, early 1800's. Taking of the waters - that is bathing in the sea - was often prescribed as beneficial so lots more people started visiting and settling in the area.
Have you thought of joining the local society? You would find a lot of help with not only tracing your family history but also local history. I see you live out of town and members do get some free research offered.
I think most local families had a Rimmer somewhere in their line. A very well known local name. Seacop is the one to help there

Alice Threlfall married Timothy Taburn 22 Oct 1816. They had 11 children. 1871 Census shown that they were Paupers and lived at Churchtown. Do you know of this family?

I'm only just getting to grips with how to use this forum.
Yes, Dipthrelfall, I did know about Alice and Timothy. Alice was the daughter of Isabel Howard and James Threlfall I believe.
I got this from a long lost relation in New Zealand.
