can any one give me more info about this couple. I have located via censuses 8 children John, Mary, Margaret, Ellen, Jane, Ann, Thomas, James......I cannot determine who the parents are for either parent...any help is appreciated.

I have only had a quick look but am thinking that maybe Thomas didn't marry Jane Ainscough but Jane Hodgson.
Perhaps someone else will look too and see what they think.

There is another marriage

The first baptism to a Thomas & Jane is 2 Sept 1832, Jane. They are shown as Crossens, as are 2 further baptisms (14 Jun 1835, John and 22 Oct 1837, Mary) That's when the One Name Extracts stop

I'm guessing that only one of the Thomas & Jane couples was baptising at St Cuthberts. I think these are the Ainscoughs (despite the closeness of the marriage to the baptism

) because:

I have noticed on the 1851 that the family have next to them an Ellen Howard wonder if this is Thomas' sister there are a couple of births on the IGI naming their father Thomas and mother Margaret.
Then there is this marriage.
3 Jul 1810 Thomas Howard & Margaret Hodson.
Looking at the BMD index I wonder would it be better to get a certificate f a birth of one of their children.
this looks like Mary .

Howard a common name but thre doesn't seem to be another Mary born about the same time that is if they did register her birth ?.

121 Kensington Road, Southport. He married (1) Jane Hodson 31 Oct 1831, daughter of Thomas Hodson
and Ellen. She was born 1809, and died Abt. 1869 in North Meols.
He married (2) Alice Threlfall 06 Feb 1875 in Unified Methodist Church, Lord Street, Southport, daughter of Gilbert Hodges and Margery Wright.
She was born 21 Nov 1814 in North Meols.

I am looking in my family tree. My grandmother's grandfather was John Howard (dob 31/03/1835) and christened 14/06/1835. Your society's extract of Howards shows his parents as Thomas and Jane Howard.

The Park Database and LDS show his mother as Jane Hodgson (Hodson). (Although the christening date of Thomas Howard differs between databases. )

However the previous E Mail in this thread does not include John Howard in the list of children of Thomas Howard and Jane Hodgson. The 1841 Census shows Thomas and Jane Howard (both aged 30) with children of John(5), Mary(3) and Margaret(1). The Park Database shows Margaret and Mary to be children of Thomas Howard (05/08/1810) and Jane Ainscough (Ainscow) (07/06/1812).

Is there other evidence for John Howard being a son of Thomas Howard and Jane Hodgson ?
