Thomas Marshall c1826I know there are a few Thomas' born around this time but has anyone come across/got one in their tree with a Mary as wife.

1871 RG10/3873/75/4
1881 RG11/3572/84/29
1891 RG12/3038/9/9
In 1881 there is an Elizabeth Abram age 17 living with them - niece, and in the same house? - 94 Lorne St. is Robert and Ellen Abram & family. which made me look for a marriage of Thomas to a Mary Abram but I cannot find one one BMD's.
Robert Abram did have a step sister Mary baptised 1828.
or I could just be barking up the wrong tree

Ellen could be his wife's sister - so her maiden name should match Mary

Yes, of course she could be Jane, I was fixated on the Abram link 
In that case Mary could have been a Rimmer 
Ellen had a sister Mary but haven't found a baptism for her, as she was possibly baptised Formby?
Parents of Ellen were James and Ann nee Marshall
No, thinking about it 1851 Mary was with parents age 14. so born c1837, and the Mary wife of Thomas shows birth c1827, a bit too much of an age gap, not for a marriage but to put down on the census.

FreeBMD only throws up only 2 possibilities:
Mary Wilson (Sep Qtr 1862)
Mary Ann Jackson (Jun Qtr 1851)
Is it the same Thomas & Mary Marshall (both from Southport) as are on the 1861 census in Liverpool, they seem about the right age? But she is never referred to as "Mary Ann" or "Mary A" in the censuses
If it's not the Liverpool 1861 pair then could be Mary Wilson. In view of their age and lack of children anywhere could it be a second marriage?

I had seen the 1861 census with a Thomas and Mary in Liverpool, but wasn't sure it was them, hence not putting it on above.
If it was Mary Abram she was with her family in 1851 census so that means she married, widowed and remarried by 1861?/1871.
Looking like it was a second marriage for both. I noticed a Thomas & Jane Marshall in North Meols 1861 but there does not seems to be another later census that they both appear together. Perhaps Jane died.
