Tree siteThis is a free site for building your family tree, it also has a genealogy search which connects to a lot of other sites, some free, some paid. It also gives you smart matches of other people searching the same people in your tree, and the ability to see their tree (unless it is made private), i only make private the living people in my tree.

They also have a secondary site where you can put a picture of yourself and it will show you what famous actor/ actress you look like.
The site has been great for me as i found my Mom's cousin and have since been in contact with him. We can now share information, pictures etc. I will also be visiting him this summer with a few of my sisters as we have never met him. This site is really easy to navigate and use. I keep my tree here in case of any computer issues i might have, i do not want to lose all the information i have collected on my family.
Sincerely,
Dar Lloyd (Olson)

Great...Thanks Dar.
Am at work now but will have a look later. That's a good idea about keeping your tree in another location. We have had several sad posts telling of details lost because of PCs crashing.

Yes this is a good site.
I use tribal pages but then download to my heritage and it has some great functions.
One being how you can do a book report of your tree . Also do one of just one side of the family if you like.

I use My Heritage primarily because it is easy to correct errors, of which I make many. Not found it great for contacts though.

Oh...You're too modest Ray...

If only that was true Dotty. On my Genes Reunited tree I have more entries under "error" than "Green" !

I have uploaded a simple "Direct Ancestors Only" tree on MyHeritage. Unfortunately to put the whole lot on would require a nearly £100pa subscription for the "PremiumPlus" service. At that price you might as well take out an Ancestry sub and use their facility!

Just recently entered the 8000th person. Problem is, thanks to Joyce Otterstrom and others, plus some obsessive census chasing on my part probably 6000+ of those are North Meols. My other 3 grandparents barely get a look-in!
I do know there are other members with bigger trees - step forward & identify yourselves

I wouldn't call it obsessive..................... I think it's necessary for the sake of completeness tracking all the lines up and down and sideways............. and finding all the census entries...... my main tree is now just over 15100 names..............in my defence, it comprises my husband's ancestors as well as my own.
