They are absolutely brilliant. And you can clearly see, on the Botanic Gardens one, where I first went to school and the terrace which was our "playground". I'm talking about the "Banqueting Hall" here.

Yes, it was then. One of the problems of being part of the post-war baby boom would seem to have been a lack of classrooms. The following year (when I was 6) I went to school in St Cuthbert's Road as normal.
Interestingly enough, my sister was born in 1940 and when she started at Churchtown (presumably in 1945) her first classroom was the URC church hall on Botanic Road.
I wonder if anyone else had a classroom that was a bit different?

Second year at senior school we were in a porta cabin. Everything was fine until we returned after the Easter break. Wow what a pong. We had to use a changing room while the workmen were called in. Up came the floor boards and the cause was found. A pregnant cat had crawled under to have her kittens but got stuck. I suppose had we been at school we would have heard her cries and she may have been rescued

I can see my Grandad's grave on that picture - I've copied it and printed it out for the Burials file I have (Rimmers Returned to St Cuthbert's)

As long as you remember that copyright stays with the person who took the photo. Use of any photo form the internet without the owners permission breaches copyright laws.
