Wareing family

I am hoping somebody can help.

I am researching the Ball family of North Meols and Thomas was married to an Alice on the 1851 census but an Elizabeth on the 1841. After doing some reckoning thought that perhaps the alice was an Alice Gregson who married a Thomas in the right area in 1850 and the only way to confirm was to send for a birth cert. for my gtgrandmother, Faith Ball, which I did.
When it came it gave Faith's mothers as "Alice Ball, late Gregson, formerly WAREING" and I THINK this is the Alice who was born to John and Alice in 1822 - area a date fit. Problem is that I can't find a marriage of an Alice Wareing to a Mr Gregson - someone checked the 1841 census for me as I thought she would either be living with her parents aged about 19 or living with a Mr Gregson but from what I can gather he can't find a connection.........assuming that they were not out of the country!!! - why can't I find my Alice? I think I am right to say Alice Wareing was born 22.8.1822 ch 13.10.1822 and her parents were John and Alice and this was Ormskirk and found the info on the IGI.

Many thanks - Pat

I have checked through my Wareing records and might have found the marriage you are looking for at St. John's, Crossens on 12 Oct 1845. The details are:
Stephen Gregson, 31, Bachelor, Weaver, Crossens, father William Gregson, joiner
Alice Wareing, 20, Spinster, Crossens, father Hugh Wareing, labourer
Witnesses: William Rimmer, Isabel Cropper

Alice's baptism is recorded in the North Meols register:
26 Mar 1826 - Alice dau of Hugh and Alice Wareing, Crossens, lab

The 1841 Census for Crossens gives:
Hugh Wareing 40 Ag Lab
Alice do 35
Alice do 15
Hugh do 7
Ann 4
Jane 2

According to FreeBMD the death of a Stephen Gregson was registered in the Ormskirk district in the June Quarter 1847.

The above does not agree with your ideas about a birth date of 1822 but seems to fit otherwise.

I hope this helps

Roger
