Another full stop that I hope somebody might take me a step further.
William Aspinwall was born in Lathom in 1786 and married Elizabeth nee Cooper b 1790, also Lathom. Don't know when but by 1841 census they were living in Halsall Lane Scarisbrick and he was a boatman (presumably on the canal).
They were still there in 1851, missing in 1861 and he died in 1869 in Wigan (I suppose this could be Parbold or Newburgh, so not far from his birthplace).
Does anyone have Aspinwalls or information on them, particularly the above or their parents etc.
PS The earliest Aspinwalls were from Aspinwall, Ormskirk. This confused me for years as no such place seemed to exist but gradually it dawned on me that Asmall, Nr Halsall, was a corruption of Aspinwall and Asmall Hall was the old Aspinwall Hall Farm. Old Maps confirmed Asmall Lane was Aspinwall Lane. So I've found the lost village, now to connect my Aspinwalls to the originals.
Jane
I have Aspion(w)alls - well my husbands line does. But I doubt there is a connection as I can't get far back with them.
Miriam Maud Aspinall born 1881 in Birkdale. Died 1919 in Southport
Parents - William Aspinwall (1851 Scarisbrick - 1884 Southport) married Mary Hornby 1880 St Joseph's in Birkdale
His parents - no father!
Margaret Aspinwall - born about 1831 Newburgh and died 1927 in Ormskirk but lived in Southport most of her life.
I know Margaret had a sister, Jane born about 1818 but I can't find their baptisms.
Good luck with getting a link to the original Aspinwalls. I doubt it can be done because parish records only go so far back

I also have three Reginald Aspinwalls in successive generations. In all the places I've looked there seem to have only ever been four people called Reginald Aspinwall, my three and one from Preston whose paintings are selling for thousands.
Oh well - guess I was never intended to have money.

Hi Jane,
A little more info has since turned up and several sons and daughters for William. These include Jane 1818 and Margaret c1830, presumably your two. My Reginald, their baby brother, seems to be the youngest of 12.
William was actually Christened on 5th June 1785, son of a further William and Jane Harrison.
Jane
Oh that sounds interesting. Where were the baptisms?

Hi Jane and Dotty
I have links with this family as Margaret Aspinall (1878) was the second wife of Robert Forshaw. He and his first wife Mary Croft were cousins and are both direct ancestors of mine.
I did have contact with Jane a couple of years ago and we swapped information, so it is good to see some more info coming through.
