William DoddI am looking for information about a relative William Dodd (born 1870). I have photographs of this man & an elderly aunt wrote on the back that he was at one time, principle of a college in Liverpool.
I can only make out the first few letters of this college........it looks like 'Sketties'. Its thought he taught on a correspondence course??
Does anyone know how I can find out what this college was, if it ever existed etc??
Any help much appreciated.

Once again, drawing into the depths of my memory, I believe there was a college called Skerries in Liverpool, something to do with office training - try looking at a site that Jane told me about called Old Merseyside (or something); when I get back home from my holiday I'll check it out and post it here! You could contact the Liverpool Echo about it - worth a try!

Oooh thanks...........yes the name could be Skerries.......looks like it anyway. This Will Dodd di actually train people for their exams in that sort of thing, Post Office exams I think someone said.
I'll look at Old Merseyside. Thanks ever so much for replying, cheers. :grin:

I remember Skerries College because I was brought up in Liverpool and decided that I would like to do commercial training and if I hadn't passed the exam to go to Anfield Commercial College my stepfather was going to pay for me to go to Skerries (in the mid 50's that was)
