Wright Family ResearchI’m a descendant of the Wright Family who lived on Shellfield Road and Lytham Road.My line is as follows: Elliott Walker (Me) Janet Myers 160 Lytham Road Mary Wright/John Myers 160 Lytham Road/55a Shellfield Road Christopher Wright 55a Shellfield Road (1901 census) We have can confirm this through my mother Janet and the 1901 census. The following research indicates the line: Christopher Wright 59 Shellfield Road with parents Thomas and Ann (1891 census) Thomas Wright 68 Shellfield Road with two children (1881 census) William Wright Churchtown Street with four children including Thomas-wife presumed dead? (1871 census) William Wright 73 Back Road with wife Ellen and five children (1861 census) William Wright 31 Smithy House living with wife Ellen and three children (1851 census) Christopher Wright 85 Churchtown living with wife Jane and seven children including William (1841 census) Other interesting research: Blundell Family 55b Shellfield Road (1901 census) They are Ann Blundell Family-Ann is married to Christopher Wright and they live in the same half house. We have found lots of Wrights on the internet who live in the North Moels area! We can possible link to other Wrights but there seems to be a generation jump on someone else family tree! Do you have any other information that may be of use? Or is this information of use to you? Is there another place where I can further research the Wrights? Incidentally I can remember shelling shrimps with my grandparents in the kitchen on Lytham road! Regards Elliott |

yeh and they took them to my aunts on marshside rd. I remember your mom. my dad donald rimmer lived at 50 lytham rd. did you go to stanley anytime between 1970-75, your name seems familiar. |

Wow that was more than I was expecting! I have some of that data from the roots web pages but your data will save me an awful lot of time! So many thanks... Incidentally the first two Christopher Wrights are still in living memory... The first was known as chappie and was the brother of my nana Myers The second was my great granddad... known as Granddad Chris to my mother for obvious reasons... he was killed by a Holland’s Toffee wagon on Preston New Road, the death certificate explains cause of death as a brain haemorrhage-they received compensation which paid for the new shed at 160 Lytham Road which was only demolished a couple of years of age! I'm still desperate to know which regiment he was in during WW1 as I have a picture of him in uniform but I can't see any cap badge or buttons... He does have a long service and good conduct stripe leading me to believe he could have been in the Army prior to the war? Thanks again for the information-what relation are you to this tree? sooner Wow that's really interesting to know! I didn't grow up in Southport as my mum (Janet)moved to Leyland when she married my dad as he was from Blackburn! Leyland being half way between the both! but I used to visit my Nana and Granddad every Saturday (Mary and John Myers) that's when I remember doing the shelling and being fed tripe! I didn't know what it was for years... I was born in 74 so I'm too young to remember much more... my mum still knows Alice Wright who lives across from 160... what can you remember about the shrimping/my mum/or anything else??? There should be reports of an 'accidental' death and maybe even a report of the inquest in the Southport Visiter of the time - do you have a date? When I (or maybe Admin) are in the Library next one or other of us could look it up? |

Hi All
I will join the society at some time this week! Just been really busy with work. Steve did send me about twenty pages as well so I've alot to keep me going! I only have Christophers death date which is the 20th August 1934-on the cause of death there is mention of the 15th? I hope this makes sense? Regards Elliott |

It sounds to me as though the actual accident happened in the 15th and he died 5 days later. I'm looking forward to finding something for you in the paper. I always like the way they used to report, the words and phrases used.

Just a quick up date. I found 4 articles yesterday which i will be passing onto Elliot. None mention a Hollands wagon though and the outcome of the inquest seems to be no one really knew what happened..........just an accident. |

I haven't googled the incident-I wouldn't know where to start! Jane's information has been great. I will try and sort out my family tree tomorrow for the society-I have managed to use ancestry and go back as far as Robert Wright born in 1645!!! much better than I could ever wish for... my mum puts it's down to Marshsiders never moving!
