Sadly I have none of them but there are some wonderful names there - Garfield, Lincoln and I am always drawn to Gertrude but have no idea why

Aaawww...I know I'm showing my ignorance but what do the numbers 2 & 3 mean on your family listing?
Sadly, none seem to belong to me either.

I am only guessing here Dotty - could they refer to the generation
so 1 - Parents
2 - their children
3 - children of 2
Of course I could be completely wrong

Mmmm...Now why didn't I think of that...

you get the cake jane. on paf when you do a descendancy chart they number the generations, on paf they are indented but when I copy them over they lose the indent.

Somebody mention cake....
I must admit I have seen and tried various systems of numbering and usually get lost along the way.
Thankfully my programme has the facility to tell me the relationship so I at least know who is a cousin, great whatever etc

Mine has the option but you have to change things around on the settings. I just use the standard ones. Working in the family history library you get used to one way of writing things up so that the church submissions are standardized. as for the cake you can come and get it if you want but Arkansas is a long way from Southport. though I'll be happy to buy you one when I come over this year.

Unsworth - if you're coming over here this year is there any chance you can make it for the Rimmer Reunion - date not yet confirmed but is probably going to be 14th October? I don't like cake much, but wouldn't mind a bag of crisps with a cold drink

Unsworth it would be lovely to meet you. Seacop & myself have met members in the past when they visit Southport. Some very odd places we've shown them too - all in the name of family history I hasten to add.
I'm sure we could manage a little meet up of a few of us

My husband's grandmother was called Gertrude - he always called her "Dirty Gertie". She died when I was expecting Mary and she made me promise her that I would never call a daughter of mine Gertrude.

what's in a name?I'm glad I wasn't named Gertrude.
Gertie is an unflattering name but I know someone who calls herself Trudy and that's quite nice.
