According to the 1876 Street Directory he was living at 29 Hawside Street Southport. Was this at one time the Head Quarters of the local unit of the the Lancashire Yeomanry and did have some connection with it. He was born in Scotland in 1847 at i believe Commrie, so did he come down as a servent to one of the Officers and then marry marry Maria Wright (born 1851)

This is their gravestone at St Cuthbert's Churchyard, Churchtown.  I only have one other Young gravestone, Joseph Cliffford Young and his wife Elizabeth.

I could not find David Young in the 1881 census but did find the following family in 1851 & 1861, could this be his family?   However the ages shown for David do not quite agree with the above.

1851 Old Mill, Wavertree.
Andrew Young, head 45, surveyor of highways, born Scotland
Mary W Young, wife, 29, born Scotland
David Young, son, 7, born Scotland

Andrew Young, son, 11, b Wavertree
James Young, son, 9, b Wavertree
Catherine Young, dau, 6, b Wavertree

David was not living with the family in 1871.

Hope this is of some help.

Barton Street went from Forest Road to Sussex Road - is now St Luke's Road
